Prof. Paul Scott, a political scientist, historian and democracy activist. He is currently based in Paris where he is teaching at the Catholic University of Lille as well as Universitat Jaume I, Castellón de la Plana, España. He is a founding member of the Alliance for Reform and Democracy in Asia and the Project Director of the Asia Democracy Index. His most recent publications are on the rise of populism.

Dr. Scott was also a core faculty member at the
European Peace University, Austria.
Dr. Scott has served as an election observer in Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore (head of mission), and Cambodia. He has undertaken solidarity and research missions in Timor Leste, Mindanao, Sulu, Afghanistan and Ethiopia. Paul has conducted workshops and seminars in Bhutan, Pakistan, Mongolia, Dharamsala, India, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. He is a founding member of the Centre for Research and Development, Mutare, Zimbabwe. This award-winning NGO is involved with communities displaced by the mining industry.
