Our Mission?
A World Free of Conflicts

The International Security and Conflict Analysis (iSCAN) was founded in Vienna, Austria in 2018 to respond to the increasing number of challenges of today’s global conflicts. At the core of iSCAN’s vision is the SOLVE Initiative that aims to ensure that peace and security are maintained through active engagement of young people (SOLVERs) and concerned members of the international community (SOLVE Enablers). Through SOLVE International Security Academy, iSCAN provides a platform for systemic analysis of international security challenges through human security lenses and for the development of strategies for impactful interventions. iSCAN’s international Security Dialogues (iSEDI) series provide a platform for dialogue on international security topics, engaging the public on issues important to them and the world.

Greta Ramelli, Italy, Trainee, 2018

This training was a success for my professional as well as academic life because it gave me the possibility to acquire a different perspective on conflicts. I can see that much of what I learnt during this training is fundamental to understand the approach of the tribunals to certain issues. Overall, I believe that any person, who works in fields that are susceptible to conflict situations, should attend this training.

Greta Ramelli, Italy, iSCAN trainee, 2018

Tiago Soares, Brazil, iSCAN trainee, 2018

iSCAN’s training on conflict analysis and intervention strategies gave me perspective and insight into key elements that integrate the security system in the case of the Syrian conflict. The training is perfect for people who are new to this amazing field or those who already know about it and want to refresh their knowledge and want to have a better view regarding conflicts from a specialist who knows about the matter, Billy Batware. I truly recommend this training.

Rachele Cecchi, Italy, trainee, 2018

The training in Conflict Analysis and Intervention Planning is surely a must-do experience for those who want to understand the basis of security studies. It is a unique chance to learn from exceptional people the roots and consequences of conflicts and intervention planning and it is absolutely one of the most engaging projects I had the pleasure to attend.

Ivan Antipov, Russia, iSCAN trainee, 2018

Conflicts are inevitable parts of human development, whether it is on the individual or global level, and it is very important to be able to correctly understand them in order to establish peace. With the help of iSCAN, I received first-hand experience on how conflicts are to be analyzed and how impactful interventions can be conducted.

Ivan Antipov, Russia, iSCAN trainee, 2018

Letizia Biscarini, Italy, iSCAN trainee, 2018

The world is getting everyday more complicated and it’s our duty, the new generation, to manage the situations we inherited, solve them in some way, hopefully in the best way we can, and avoid them for the future. Thanks to this ISCAN training, I felt I’ve done the first step towards being able to make the difference. I’m just looking forward for the next one.

Letizia Biscarini, Italy, iSCAN trainee, 2018

Melissa Rodriguez Ramirez, Costa Rica, iSCAN trainee, 2018

I especially liked to analyze the relationships between the parties involved in the study case and plan feasible interventions. I am very honored to have shared with people of many nationalities with different points of view and experiences that enrich the analysis guided by a professional like Billy Batware. Thank you very much for giving me the privilege of learning first-hand conflict analysis approaches.
